Chess Mastery Academy · Free Assessment

Find Out Exactly Where You Are — and What to Do Next.

Most chess students improve slowly not because they lack talent, but because they're training on the wrong things for their level. The free assessment changes that. In 5 minutes, you'll give us the information we need to tell you exactly which training path will move you the fastest.

  • Know which ELO group actually matches your current level
  • Hear honestly whether VIP coaching would accelerate your goals
  • Get a recommendation — not a sales pitch — within 24 hours
  • No commitment required to receive the recommendation

What the Assessment Actually Gives You

This isn't an automated quiz. A real person reviews what you submit and responds with a specific recommendation for your situation.

Your ELO Group Placement

We'll tell you which training group fits your current level — or if you're borderline between two, we'll explain the tradeoffs honestly so you can decide with real information instead of guessing.

An Honest VIP Recommendation

If your goals, timeline, or situation suggest that private coaching would accelerate your progress, we'll say so and explain why. If group training is the better fit right now, we'll tell you that instead.

One Specific Thing to Work On

Based on your level and what you describe as your biggest weakness, we'll give you one concrete area to focus on right now — even before you start any program. That's the assessment working for you immediately.

This Assessment Is For You If...

You're new to structured training

You've been playing casually — online, with friends, maybe a school club — but you've never had a real improvement plan. You're not sure if you're a beginner or intermediate. This tells you clearly where to start.

You've been stuck at the same rating

You've been playing regularly but haven't moved. Something is blocking you and you don't know what. We'll look at what you submit and likely have a clear hypothesis about it within the first 5 minutes of review.

You're a parent choosing a path for your child

You know your child loves chess and you want to channel that into something real — but you're not sure if group classes, private coaching, or a combination is the right investment right now. We'll give you a straight answer.

You have a rated tournament coming up

You've got a specific event on the calendar and you want to know if you have time to improve meaningfully before then — and how to spend that time. Assessment + a VIP consultation call is the fastest way to build a plan.

You don't have an official ELO rating yet

That's fine. We look at online ratings (Chess.com, Lichess) and self-reported experience just as easily. If you have no rating at all, just describe your experience — we can work from there.

You want to know if we're the right fit before committing

Totally fair. The assessment is a no-pressure first step. You get real information, we get to know what you're working toward, and nobody has to commit to anything before the conversation starts.

The Training Groups We'll Place You In

Four ELO-specific levels, each with its own curriculum, focus, and weekly group sessions. The assessment tells you which one fits where you are right now.

800–1200

1200–1500
Improvement
Calculation depth, candidate moves, pawn structure, middlegame plans, converting winning positions.
1500–1800

From a recent student

"I didn't know if I was a beginner or intermediate. I just knew I kept losing games I should have won. After filling in the assessment, Coach Moses told me exactly what was happening — I was making good plans and then abandoning them when I felt pressure. One session in, it was already clicking."

"I went from 500 to 1100 in one month. It started with this same form. I had no idea what group I belonged in — I just knew I wanted to improve. The assessment pointed me to the right path and the coaching did the rest."
